❌OPPOSE SB268 Permitting discrimination in youth sports, locker rooms, detention centers, and bathrooms by making it lawful to segregate people by gender assigned at birth. Hearing in House Judiciary Committee, Wed, April 16.
❌OPPOSE HB108 Determining process for multiple school district bullying investigations. Hearing in Senate Education Committee, Tues, April 15. We're all for putting a stop to bullying and having serious investigations. This bill does not go far enough to address issues across multiple districts.
❌OPPOSE HB273 Giving parents access to their kids' library records. Hearing in Senate Children and Family Law Committee, Thurs, April 24. Let the kids read. Libraries already have policies regarding children's library cards and records.

Those bills will move ahead but they're not law yet. So our #1 ask is for you to contact the Governor's office and ask Gov. Ayotte to say NO to any transphobic, discriminatory, anti-LGBTQIA+ bills that make it to her desk this session. It's not the NH way. The bills don't represent the perspective of most NH residents. You can look back at earlier posts here for more info, but that's the basic message. We think this bills is vague, combative, unnecessary, and diminishes the trusting relationship between students and school personnel.
❌OPPOSE HB231, prohibiting school district personnel from transporting students to medical procedures without parental consent. This bill has moved on from the House to the Senate. Hearing Wed, Apr 2, Education Committee. Go to the Remote Testimony link above, select April 2 and Education Committee and follow the steps. We think this bill is dramatic, politicized fearmongering. Medical appointments require parental consent.
❌ OPPOSE HB667, Requiring viewing of gestational development videos from embryo to fetus to birth. This bill has also moved from the House to the Senate. Hearing Wed Apr 2. Education Committee. Follow the same steps above. Obviously, we support sex education but this bill would require viewing of biased anti-abortion propaganda.

The NH House will take up all these bills on its regular calendar this Wed, March 26, determining whether the bills move on to the Senate or not. What can you do? ❌HB324 Prohibits obscene or harmful materials in schools and imposes civil actions. Schools have policies and procedures already and the penalties here are harsh.
❌HB377 Prevents gender-affirming care for teens by prohibiting hormone treatments and puberty blockers.
❌HB712 Limits breast surgeries for minors, targeting transgender youth.
✅Ask reps to SUPPORT HB50 which aims to allow educators to teach about groups protected from discrimination.

Our advocacy efforts do have an impact. Eight bills of concern to us this session have been voted inexpedient to legislate or retained in committee. If you've been following our posts, you know that there are more than twenty bills that we consider harmful, many of them sponsored by Goffstown representatives. The bills listed here already had public hearings over the past month and you may have provided testimony. So, what can you do once a hearing has already take place? You can reach out to your representatives and senator and ask them to oppose these bills if they're on the committees or when the bills come to the floor. You can contact all the members of the committee to which the bill is assigned to remind them of the overwhelming public testimony in opposition to the bills and ask them to listen to voters. You can join the efforts of advocacy organizations around the state. All of these bills have been opposed by NH residents and organizations, in most cases ten times more opposition than support.
These first 3 bills would all roll back anti-discrimination protections and permit segregation and discrimination based on gender identified at birth.

❌HB377 OPPOSE Relative to health care professionals administering hormone treatments and puberty blockers. This bill prohibits the performance of a medical procedure or the prescription or issuance of medication, upon or to a minor child, that is intended to alter the minor child's gender or delay puberty. Violations would be felony offenses. Prime sponsor: Lisa Mazur. Other sponsors include Sherri Reinfurt, Sheila Seidel, and Keith Murphy. The bill's title is the "Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act" and it is anything but that. Healthcare, including gender-affirming care, is best left to families and their medical providers, not the legislature.
❌HB712 OPPOSE Limiting breast surgeries for minors. If passed, it would limit permissible breast surgeries on people under the age of 18 to only those procedures needed to treat malignancy, injury, infection, or malformation and those needed to reconstruct the breasts after such procedures. Again, we see transphobic legislation sponsored by Goffstown's Lisa Mazur, along with the other reps named above, and an all-out effort to eliminate gender-affirming care.

This Presidents’ Day, we celebrate the leaders who have shaped our nation—and during Black History Month, we honor the historic milestones that have paved the way for progress.

President Barack Obama made history as the first Black president of the United States, leading with hope, resilience, and a vision for a more united future. Vice President Kamala Harris broke barriers as the first Black and first female vice president, proving that representation matters at the highest levels of leadership. Both were strong allies to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Their journeys remind us that progress is possible when we lift each other up and continue working toward a more inclusive and equitable future.
